Description:
Fort Myers is the home of one of the largest populations of manatees in Florida, particularly in the winter when they congregate in the Orange River to feed and stay warm. Opened in 1996, this 17 acre Regional Park is built and operated through a cooperative effort of partners & sponsors. While the land is owned by Florida Power & Light, money for facilities came from the Lee Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau. The park also has a butterfly garden, small gift shop, picnic area, playground and concessions. Calusa Blueway Outfitters is on site to rent a canoe or kayak, or take a guided tour.
