Description:
As stated in its mission, the Southwest Florida Historical Museum is dedicated to preservation and interpretation of the history of the Southwest Florida area with emphasis on Fort Myers. The Museum features the history of Southwest Florida, including the Paleo Indians, the Calusa, the Seminoles, Spanish explorers and early settlers. You will see a pioneer “cracker” house and a 1929 private Pullman rail car. Learn all about the history of Fort Myers by making your reservation for the Fort Myers Downtown Walking Tour. The Museum also sponsors day trips (by tour bus) to nearby Florida cities, featuring other museums and Florida history.

Fort Myers
Fort Myers, known also as the "City of Palms", is the historical heart of
Southwest Florida. Visitors to the Fort Myers area will enjoy the sun and
beaches, water recreation, family attractions, golf, shopping and dining. Fort
Myers is the place Thomas Edison and Henry Ford built their
winter estates in the
late 1800's and early 1900's. During March, visitors come to see the
Boston Red Sox and the
Minnesota Twins
